If you need a private investigator for infidelity, the aim is to replace suspicion with reliable facts. UKPI investigates concerns about a cheating partner through discreet, lawful surveillance and clear reporting, so you can decide what to do with evidence rather than assumption.
Every relationship investigation begins with a confidential consultation. We discuss what has changed, the dates or routines that matter, and the result you need. The proposed work, likely cost and contact arrangements are agreed before work starts.
What an infidelity investigator can establish
An infidelity investigation looks at relevant behaviour within an agreed period. It may establish where a partner goes, who they meet and whether their account of an event is consistent with what is observed. The report records facts and does not fill gaps with opinion.
Depending on the circumstances, a private investigator may document journeys, meetings, overnight stays or repeated contact with another person. Photographic evidence or video may be included when it can be obtained lawfully and without creating an unreasonable risk of detection.
No responsible firm can promise to prove cheating before the work begins. A finding that does not support your suspicions is still useful. It gives you a factual basis for the next conversation or decision.
Signs that may justify an investigation
A change on its own does not prove an affair. Several unexplained changes, especially when they follow a pattern, may justify asking whether discreet observation would answer the concern.
- Frequent unexplained changes in routine
- Increased secrecy around a phone, laptop or social media account
- Late working, sudden trips or gaps in an explanation
- Unexplained expenses, cash withdrawals or hotel charges
- Emotional distance or a marked change in intimacy
- Defensive answers to ordinary questions
These signs can have innocent explanations. UKPI will not treat them as proof that a partner or spouse is cheating. They help us decide whether there is a sensible time, place and lawful method for checking what is happening.
How infidelity surveillance works
Partner surveillance is planned around information you already know, such as a journey, regular appointment or unusual absence. Choosing the right window matters because aimless observation can use time without answering the question.
Where observation is appropriate, operatives watch from lawful locations and keep a timed record of relevant activity. They may follow movements between places and record interactions that can be seen from public areas. The work does not include hacking, spyware or access to private accounts.
A private investigator adapts the plan if circumstances change, but stays within the agreed scope. If further time would be useful, you are told why and what it would cost before additional work is authorised.
Infidelity investigation packages
The following packages provide a starting point for investigating a cheating partner. We confirm what is included in writing and agree any case-specific requirements before work begins.
Initial assessment – £295
This includes a confidential consultation, one four-hour surveillance session and a written account of the findings. It suits a defined date or short window involving a suspected cheating partner when you need to confirm or rule out a concern.
Standard investigation – £595
This includes two surveillance sessions over eight hours, with a detailed written report and relevant photographic evidence when obtained. It allows more than one opportunity to test a suspected cheating pattern.
Full investigation – £995
This provides 16 hours of surveillance across agreed sessions for a more involved situation. The report brings the observations together and includes relevant photographs or video when these are obtained lawfully.
Individual investigation
If the fixed packages do not fit the circumstances, individual work is available at £45 per hour. The scope may be narrowed to one question or arranged across several dates, depending on what is most likely to produce a useful answer.
Travel, timing and the number of operatives can affect the final cost of some cases. Nothing outside the agreed scope should be assumed. You receive the proposed plan and price before deciding whether to proceed.
The investigation process
A clear plan protects both the client and the investigation. It also keeps the work tied to the question you need answered.
- Confidential consultation. You explain the concern, known routines and relevant dates.
- Scope and cost. We recommend a proportionate approach and confirm the price.
- Discreet investigation. The operative carries out the agreed work and keeps contemporaneous notes.
- Factual report. You receive a clear chronology with supporting material where available.
Contact arrangements are agreed at the outset. We can avoid unsuitable times or channels and use the contact details you specify for updates.
Lawful methods and privacy
Relationship investigations must respect UK law and the privacy rights of your partner and anyone else involved. UKPI does not access private messages or accounts without authority, install spyware, impersonate people to obtain protected information or enter private property without permission.
A private investigator can observe activity that is visible from lawful locations and record relevant facts for a legitimate purpose. The method used depends on the setting, the information supplied and the risk that observation could become intrusive or disproportionate.
Discretion is planned carefully, but nobody can guarantee that covert work will never be noticed by a partner. A responsible plan reduces that risk and avoids unnecessary contact. If the circumstances make covert work unsuitable, we will explain that before taking payment for the proposed work.
What you receive
The written report sets out the evidence gathered and what the investigator observed, with dates, times and locations. It separates observation from interpretation so that you can see exactly what was established.
Photographs or video are supplied when they are relevant and were obtained during the agreed work. The amount of evidence depends on what happens during the investigation; it cannot be known in advance.
If you may need the material for legal advice, tell us during the consultation. We can preserve an orderly record, but a solicitor should advise whether any evidence is relevant or usable in particular proceedings.
Costs, timing and next steps
The right amount of observation depends on the suspected cheating pattern and the spouse’s or partner’s routine. A known date may require one session, while irregular behaviour can call for several carefully selected windows. More hours are not automatically better.
Completion time therefore varies by case. We agree the initial work first and report what was found. Any suggested follow-on work must have a stated reason, rather than continuing without a clear purpose.
If the information you provide suggests that an investigation is unlikely to answer the question, we will say so. The consultation is intended to identify a sensible response to cheating concerns, not to sell hours that are unlikely to help.
